Chance to meet two world-leading financial academics

Apologies for the the short notice on this one, but there’s a rare opportunity to listen to two of the UK’s leading financial academics speak in London next Wednesday, 6th March. Elroy Dimson and Tim Jenkinson, whose work has often featured on this blog, are the two main speakers at an event organised by Sparrows Capital. Sparrows is one of TEBI’s two strategic partners in the UK.

Elroy Dimson, Professor of finance at Cambridge Judge Business School, is going to be talking about ESG investing. Professor Dimson was one of the co-designers of the FTSE 100 index and has chaired the Policy Committee for the FTSE Group. He also devised the investment strategy for the Norwegian Government Pension Fund.

He co-wrote the book Triumph of the Optimists and is one of the editors of the Credit Suisse Global Investment Returns Yearbook, the 2019 version of which has just been published.

Tim Jenkinson, Professor of Finance at the Oxford Saïd Business School, will be discussing the difficulties that trustees of charities face in picking asset managers to beat the market. He’s a leading authority on private equity, IPOs and institutional asset management. His most recent research has been on investment consultants and their tendency to subtract value from the investment process rather than add it.

If you’d like to attend, there are still a few places left. You can sign up by registering your details here. Believe me, this is an opportunity that shouldn’t be missed.
