Robin’s Reads, Week 08, 2020

TEBI’s mission

Before I launch into my latest selection of suggested reads, I’d like to say a few words about the work of The Evidence-Based Investor.

The good news is that financial journalism is generally better — and crucially, more consumer-focused — than it used to be. But there’s still far too much journalism that militates against good consumer outcomes.

What the success of websites like TEBI and HumbleDollar shows is that there’s definitely a place for financial journalism that’s free from bias and conflict of interest and that doesn’t rely on advertising revenue from product providers.

TEBI is a labour of love. All the work I do for it is entirely voluntary, and all the operating costs are paid from my own pocket.

Any help that you can give me in meeting those expenses and maintaining the quality and the volume of content that we provide would be hugely appreciated.

If you work for an evidence-based advice firm, perhaps you’d like to speak to my Regis Media colleague Sam Willet about becoming a strategic partner? Or you could ask Sam about purchasing or commissioning content from us, which is another way of supporting the work we do at TEBI.

Alternatively, whether you’re an adviser or not, please can I ask you to consider making a donation?

Every cent or penny we receive will be used to support our mission to empower investors and help to create a fairer, more transparent financial industry.

Thank you.
